On the eve of 16 March 2020 I was all packed up ready to take on a holiday with my mum to New York City Washington DC and New Orleans. Email after email began to come through with cancellations, the NBA, Broadway, Statue of Liberty, Museums, making our trip to America very much a bust. COVID-19 certainly was making its way around the world at 10.30pm on the 16th I was online, cancelling our flights scheduled to leave at 7am the following day.
To say I was devastated was an understatement. I was so adamant we would forge ahead, but as the gravity of the situation hit I knew it was the right thing to stay put and ultimately stay safe.

But here we are now in 2025, making final plans for this trip as we fly out in just a couple of days, which also means sharing my stories, of a trip I simply cannot wait to take. This time, just heading to New York, so I will have to cover off the other cities another time, but I am excited to be sharing it with my mumma, affectionately known as Helsie.
We are packing comfortable walking shoes, and warm clothes as we land the temperature is set to be a maximum of 8 degrees on our first day – apparently ‘feels like 2 degrees’.
While I have been to New York once before, there’s still some things I have to tick off my bucket list. The last time I was there (2016) we experienced a city shut down on account of a once every 4 years snowstorm, which cancelled a few of our plans. Notably seeing a show on Broadway. A lover of musical theatre since I was a kid, I am very much looking forward to that one.
Feel free to come along for the ride and live vicariously through us, as I am sure the interactions we have and the places we go will be worth the read. It will be nice to get back to travel blogging and having a wonderful time with mumma. Same suitcase…..same travel partner…..and a whole lot of new experiences (and some for a second time).
