Initally waking at 6.30am I close my eyes again and manage to dose till 8.30am. We aren’t on a major time schedule today, with Jamei being picked up for round 2 of her tattoo at 10.30am. We decide to skip the included breakfast at the hotel on the hunt for something new elsewhere, so we head down to the water to check out the options at the restaurants down there.
Jamei has slept ok, but still tender from her full 12 hours of tattooing.
Boston sees French toast on one of the menus, but we go further down in search for a restaurant with more options. We find one with some good choices on the menu and ask if they do French toast. They say yes, so we head in and shown our seat. Jamei orders a egg and bacon roll and I get some poached eggs, avocado and bacon. It’s so nice to have some new food for breakfast.

Boston’s “French toast” arrives and we have a good chuckle. It’s basically a baguette toasted. Fully equipped with butter and jam. Not quite the breakfast Boston was hoping for. So we order a second bacon and egg roll for Boston and enjoy the lovely breeze and perfect temperature. Mostly cause we are in the shade.

We finish up breakfast and head back to the hotel. I needed to grab some more cash for the day, but now when I go to the ATM I am not needing to get out as much as this is our last full day. Although now when I come to Bali I don’t worry so much about changing my money into Australian dollars when I return home, cause I know I will be back and I just keep it with my passport ready to go for next trip.
Jamei waits in the foyer and Boston and I head out for a spot of shopping around the streets of Legian. There is a combination of fixed price and bargaining which is perfect. Boston knows exactly what she wants, and I am literally just there for the negotiations. It’s lovely to meet the locals and learn new words in Bahasa. I continue to use common words and phrases so the girls can pick it up as well. Sempurna is by far our most used word together – PERFECT!

Boston and I enjoy a stroll around a different part of Legian. It’s all much the same things, but every now and again you’ll spot something unique to check out. Or a particular shop owner will get your attention enough to entice you inside. Many of them are very cheeky, either trying out their best Aussie accent or slang (bloody cheap mate), or try out a line that they know will get your attention (I like your bag, shoes, tattoo). Whatever works.
It doesn’t take too long before we’ve worked up a sweat and we decide to stop for a cool drink from a cafe we spotted just up from where we were shopping. We take a seat under and fan and I decide to order a cocktail, while Boz opts for a chocolate milkshake. I see an uncommon option on the menu so I decide to give it a shot. Dragonfruit Margherita!
We’re not far from a DVD store I know and Boston is on the hunt for just a few more to complete all requests from her dad. I let her know that she can just ask and the staff here are very good. We find what we need, as the staff overhear us talking about the ones we are looking for and they jump around the store for you to collect what you are looking for. There’s not many they don’t have. They also offer to play it for us so we can see the quality. Sempurna!
After much success we head back to the hotel. I have worked up an appetite and very keen to go to one of my favourite restaurants here, Ginger Moon! So we hail a cab and head off to Seminyak, the next suburb along. Jamei is still going at the tattoo shop, but today I won’t be popping out to say hello. She has also decided to keep a space free that originally she was going to be getting. She can’t decide how to fill the space, so rather than have to make a quick decision, she’s going to wait it out.
Ginger Moon has an Asian inspired menu and is focused on ‘sharing’ food. The wifi password is “itsasharingthing”. We are greeted warmly and it’s refreshing to step inside as the restaurant is air conditioned. I already know one of the 2 dishes I will be ordering. Boston keeps it simple with some steamed rice and soy sauce. I remember not being very adventurous with my food until I was much older. But I really do look forward to the day I can enjoy trying new foods with her.
My food comes out looking and smelling amazing. My choices today are king prawn steamed dumplings and chicken bao buns. I cannot wait to sink my teeth into them.

I thought Boz might have been interested in a wander around the Seminyak shops but she’d prefer to head back for a dip in the pool. I agree it’s a great idea. So Boston finds us a cab and I hail it down.
It’s absolutely stunning on the rooftop pool. But oh so hot too. The water temperature is also so refreshing. We spend a little bit of time up there before I decide to head back to room. Also Jamei should be back soon so we can all prepare for sunset drinks down by the water.
Jamei arrives and is so pleased that there is no more time needed in the tattoo chair. Boston also returns from the pool and we get ourselves together for drinks so we can make some plans for dinner.
It’s so great to see the girls so keen to be in Bali. Many of the streets are one way so it’s often easier to walk. Unless of course you’re happy to jump on a bike.
We start to walk toward the Kombi van which is actually a bar. It’s a cool place with a great vibe that had been introduced to me by a work mate on a previous trip.
We’ve just caught the sunset so we stop along the way to take some snaps and finally arrive.
There’s a dj playing and people everywhere. Very quickly the staff are buzzing around us and having a great time while working. There’s a couple of cool guys behind the bar who greet us with big smiles and ask us our names. We sit down right in front of it so it’s great cause there’s a lot of action.

The longer we sit there the more we get to know the staff. There’s one in particular that is paying us all special attention and he introduces himself as Bam. He is also responsible for free pouring vodka cranberries to all the guests who’ve taken up residence around the many seating options. There’s tables and chairs, seating close to the ground and benches facing the sunset.

When Bam stops at us he makes sure we all get to be a part of it. It would be rude to decline anyway……surely!
Amidst all of this we get to meet the owner Win. A lovely older Balinese man who is very cool and keen for a bit of a chat. He even knew where my home town of Terrigal was.

As the people thin out the staff get to wind down a bit and have a bit of a boogie. Firstly with the girls. Then with me. Jamei and I had decided that given it was our last night we would go out for a proper dance later. We’re excited to hear that some new friends we made were also going to be there after work. So we all exchange Instagram accounts and take some last minute pictures together.

Jamei and I need to eat. It’s way past dinner time and if we were planing on having a night out then it’s a must do.
We head to Chapter 2 and enjoy some food and a couple of drinks. Although one of them we’d brought ourselves from the room. I love that you can do that. We chat to a number of people around us making new friends from Sydney. All having a marvelous time indeed. Great people and we all sang along a little bit to the live music.
Before long it was time to head out to the club. There’s a couple I’m taking Jamei to, and to save time we jump on bikes. The first stop is Motel Mexicola. It’s busy inside and already in the full swing. Jamei is not a huge fan so we opt out and head towards La Favela. We are doubled on a bike together and it’s only just around the corner. Although Jamei does mention that it’s a lot further than she was prepared to walk.

La Favela was looking busy as always. But we are waiting for our new friends. So because of its size we opt for a drink across the road where much of the music is More to Jameis taste.
We order a Shisha too which is something we’d not had a chance to. Jamei ordered grape shisha and we are relaxing. We hear from our friends who are on their way.

Eventually Bam arrives and I’ve gotten to chatting with a solo traveler next to me. A married police officer from Queensland looking for a good time in Bali – oh boy do you have the wrong girl. Jamei has gone into La Favela with Bam and Lian and I just let her know I’ll see her in there. I finish up my drink and conversation with Anthony and head into the club. It’s shoulder to shoulder PACKED!! All I can think of is that it’s going to be very hard to find Jamei. But I know she is in good hands with locals.
I make some new friends from the USA. They’re traveling just for fun and we dance and dance. It’s super sweaty in there on account of the people and the humidity. Jamei and I cross paths and we are both reassured that we’re both ok and continue on with our night but separately.
My new friends offer for me to chill out at their villa just around the corner and given the sweat I have worked up a dip in their private pool sounds sempurna!
We hang out chat. Eat some food and I end up crashing out there. Exhausted from a very long day (and holiday). I happen to catch a glimpse at my reflection and I look as tired as I feel.

Last day tomorrow. I can’t believe it’s all over. Definitely not enough time here.
