There are many reasons to be excited today. One is because we have a mystery boat trip ahead of us, and the other is to be spending time with the 2 couples we had connected with on Wednesday night. We were intrigued by what kind of day we were going to have, but wherever we ended up, we knew it was going to be great as we loved their company. I’ve always been a firm believer in taking every opportunity in life to maximise fun and experiences, which is how we ended up with a day like today.
Not having been given many instructions other than an address and a time to meet, we were at a bit of a loss as to what to bring with us. We decided to stop for breakfast at the Village Café, and chat about the plans ahead. A hearty breakfast was in order as we weren’t really sure when we would eat next either. Sharing food has become a thing for us, but never getting hungry. So much good food to be had.
We settle the bill and head to the supermarket to decide what to bring along with us. We decide on some snacks and the ingredients to make an Aperol Spritz for everyone. We realise that there really is not a lot of time to get ourselves organised before we need to jump in an Uber and head to the address. We laugh with the lady in the liquor store, who jokes that maybe we a need a ‘safe number’ to call, as we were heading out with strangers, and might find ourselves at the bottom of the ocean. Being good judges of character, we didn’t feel there was any risk, and laughed along with her. There are so many great people that we would consider calling our friends after not needing much time with them. Sometimes you just ‘click’.
We jump into our Uber with all our supplies and head out. We arrive at Marina Jacks with luxury boats a plenty. But it seems we haven’t quite reached the correct destination, so Matthew makes a quick call to Kristy 1 (there are 2 Kristys in todays blog) and we are instructed to wait by the statue. That is so easy to locate, as it’s a massive recreation of a classic end of the war image.

We spot the 4 of them heading toward us and we make our way away from the marina and under the bridge. So there’s Jerry, Kristy 1, Ross, Kristy 2, Matthew and myself. Ross has a massive sun hat, and they all have some fun glasses on. It’s obvious that their smiles and vigorous waves on our arrival was evidence they were as happy to see us as we were of them, and also that a great time together was ahead of us.
As we make our way around the final corner to the wharf, we lay eyes on our watercraft for the day. We all burst out laughing at the incredible surprise. It’s a floating Tiki Bar. What a ridiculously fun way to spend the next four hours with these guys.
With music connected and drinks being poured, we make our way into the channel to explore the water and the houses that can be seen along the shoreline. We pass multimillion dollar homes, and it’s pointed out to us a house under construction that is rumoured to belong to Tom Cruise. It’s a very impressive shell already, and I can only imagine how it might look when it’s done.
We stop at a Beer Can Island, and explore a little along the beach, we even stop on a sand bar in the middle of the water, place a charcuterie board on a small tub and enjoy the food sunshine and drinks. It’s quite surreal to be out in the middle of it all.
Our final stop is a beautiful beach, where the water temperature is absolutely incredible, so we can’t help but have a dip. Our captain, who has been brilliant, dives into the water too. What an incredible office he has to be able to do this everyday.
The time passes quickly and before long we head back to the wharf, and get an invitation for a dip in the pool at Ross’ apartments. We enjoy a swim and a chat with all four of them. It’s been an incredible day, and after getting some more sun, we opt to tap out and head to Marina Jacks for a quick drink before heading back to the house. Matthew in true clumsy style spills his drink, and has to head sheepishly back to the bar for another. The sun is hot, and the view is stunning as the sunset is imminent.

We just can’t believe the chance encounter a couple of nights ago, and we are both grinning at the amazing day we’ve had with them all. But after a day in the sun, and being closer to dinner time now, we call an Uber and head back home.
Uber Eats is the plan for a quiet night in and we fall into bed very content with the memory making that today has gifted us.
Talk about happy!
