Day 6 – Moving homes (12 October)

Our time felt both long and short in Legian but we wake on the morning of moving day! In all my trips to Bali I’ve stayed around the Legian/Seminyak areas, so to be heading somewhere new is exciting. I’ve heard about Sanur from many people (and the multiple Facebook groups I am in) about how beautiful and quiet it is. I don’t really do quiet (surprising I know) so I am intrigued to see what it is like for myself.

We wake and decide to have some brekky at home then grab a coffee and a smoothie from our favourite coffee stop. I am hopeful I will find good coffee in Sanur too. After that we decide to head out to see if a shop I love is open today which has some great household items that are great for a little bit of styling. It was great to see they were open and we chatted with them for a bit. We tried some of their dried banana snack from their village as they made jewellery and laughed and chatted away. We found a few items for our place, made our purchases and moved on.
Matthew finally got to experience me bartering with the shop keepers at our final stop as he had spotted a t-shirt or two he liked the look of.
It was time to head back and prepare for our driver to arrive for the next villa. Ronny arrived around lunchtime and we had to meet him at the main road with our luggage as his car wouldn’t fit down the tight alleyway (called a Gang).
We take a local’s shortcut as we near our villa and can see the difference already, even in the back streets. Ronny shows us through the villa to find they’ve created some love birds on the bed and left a bottle of bubbles for us to wish us well for our honeymoon.

The villa is exactly as described “A couple’s haven” and the place is beautifully decorated with bright colours and frangipanis which would have come from the tree in the garden.

We decide to take a walk to see what Sanur is really like. We weave down the alleyways and attempt to take it all in while still needing to watch where we walk. Clumsy 1 and clumsy 2 aren’t great at flat ground let alone the somewhat bumpy obstacles the Bali paths are known for.
We find the beach and a spot to stop for lunch. It really is quiet here. With the path stretching the entire length of the beach.

If we weren’t relaxed before we certainly are now. We chuckle at some puppies who have dug themselves a hole each to cool down in the shade of one of the many huge trees scattered along the beachside.

After a bite to eat, it’s time to cool down. We have a very hot walk home and decide to jump in the pool and I relax in the cabana while Matthew reads while having a dip (who said mean can’t multitask?). A lovely way to spend the rest of the afternoon.

The heat of the day has taken a lot out of us, so we order in some Indonesian food and chillax for the rest of the night. We need to be up early as tomorrow we play with the elephants!!
