For me the fun of planning is almost as much fun as the trip itself. I can’t believe that the flights were booked 12 months ago and now there are only 14 short days till we take off for our southern USA adventure.
We’ve purposefully chosen small towns which are not on your traditional tourist map and moving around every few days we can’t wait to meet the locals, hear their stories and uncover the secrets of each of these places.
We’ll make one well known stop in New Orleans – because…..well…hello it’s New Orleans – but outside of that, be ready to hear about quirky stops, history and a scattering of thrift shopping.

One last check of all the bookings has revealed our AirBNBs along the way have continued to keep their 4.9-5 star ratings, and jagged a significantly cheaper price for our hire car. Pays to not ‘set and forget’.
For those who don’t know, this trip was at risk of being cancelled altogether. Late last year I suffered a significant DVT which put me in an ambulance and all our travel in jeopardy. But now with a recent scan giving me the all clear and blood thinners in hand, I am so looking forward to some more memory making – Hannah style.
